The design's unique properties lie in its use of a pure white tone, combined with wooden materials and reflective glass, to create a serene and warm atmosphere. The designers cleverly integrated a loft-style layout into the maisonette, creating a light-filled space that is both functional and aesthetically pleasing.
The realization of Cozy White involved a careful balance of black, grey, and white, with 80% of the large wall areas, storage cabinets, and staircase structures presented in white. The designers used special coatings, iron parts, glass, woodwork, carved white marble, imitation stone tiles, and mirror surfaces to achieve a visually balanced and comfortable environment.
The design team, consisting of Yu-Chi Liu and Yi-Han Chen, faced the challenge of excellent lighting on both sides of the home. They tackled this by replacing the old staircase design with a space-saving rotating circular staircase, restoring a high and bright view. The staircase, with its stable round iron pillars and white ring-like structure, was carefully designed to ensure both safety and aesthetics.
The Cozy White project, completed between 2018 and 2019 in Taipei, Taiwan, is a testament to the designers' commitment to creating a home that fosters harmonious family relationships. The open layout allows for seamless communication among family members, while the natural daylight, pure white tones, and wood elements create a calming, nature-inspired ambiance.
Cozy White has been recognized with a Silver A' Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design Award in 2020, a testament to its innovative design and technical excellence. This design, with its unique blend of Nordic style and loft-inspired layout, is a shining example of the creativity and expertise of designers Yu-Chi Liu and Yi-Han Chen.
